Participants practice diagnosing and treating airway obstruction, bleeding, and shock by using simple triage and rapid treatment techniques. Class covers signs and symptoms that might be experienced by the disaster victim and worker. |

Evaluate victims by doing a head to toe assessment, establishing a medical treatment area, performing basic first aid, and practicing in a safe and sanitary manner. |

Learn about various radios used during emergencies and how to compose emergency messages. Covers the proper and most effective way to use FRS radios when other communication methods such as telephones, are unavailable following a disaster.

Students spend four hours rotating through various skills stations in which they practice and implement the course teachings over the previous eight weeks. At the end of the hands-on exercises, students receive recognition certifications and a CERT Graduation CD, concluding the program until the Earthquake Drill Exercise.

Class Nine: 2010 Class Earthquake Drill |

- AM Drill runs from 8:00am to 12:15 pm
- PM Drill runs from 1:00pm to 5:00 pm
- All 2010 New CERT members will participate

The Earthquake Drill gives class participants the ability to fully practice all of the above skills they have learned. In this simulation exercise teams are deployed from an Incident Command Post to assist seemingly real disaster struck victims. Participants benefit from practicing in the intensity of a life-like situation.
Earthquake Drill will be held once a year for all three CERT Training Classes. You will be asked to select AM or PM shift. |
